It’s no wonder they’re a household name; their long history in the field of powersports combined with their dedication to continual improvement puts them in a league of their own.
Your local Polaris® dealer is Stoneham's Motorsports, with locations in Waynesboro and Everett, Pennsylvania. We’ve got the lowdown on why you should make your next powersports purchase a Polaris® ATV.
History
At the tail-end of World War II in 1945, Polaris® began their enterprise by constructing one of the world’s first successful snowmobiles out of scrap metal. Over the following decades, they expanded into other types of powersports vehicles, with their foray into ATVs beginning in 1985. Their first model, the Polaris® Trail Boss, is actually considered to be the first ATV made in America. But there is more to the company’s quad involvement than that.
After examining the four-wheeler market as a whole, Polaris® decided that an overhaul was in order because many of the 1980s models were difficult to operate, clunky and not particularly pleasant to use. So Polaris® chose to improve suspension systems and boost performance on their ATVs in order to provide a better overall product.
Some of their innovations include independent rear suspension, four-wheel drive, automatic transmission, full floorboards, and four-stroke engines. Their dedication to making great ATVs resulted in the sale of their millionth Sportsman® in 2008!
Models
Now that you know some company history, you’ll want to know what types of Polaris® ATVs are available to you. All of their machines are great at towing and hauling and handling tough terrain.
Some are more specialized, like the Mud & Sport models that offer more agility and are easier to maneuver.
Meanwhile, the Sport/Utility models are lighter in weight, which makes them faster if you’re interested in racing with your ATV.
Finally, there are the Rec/Utility models which can give you a little more heft to help you with difficult projects.
What model you go for will depend on whether you’re after a purely recreational model or if you want a quad that can also help with hard work. Either way, Polaris® four wheelers are more than capable of handling anything you throw at them!
