Over 100 Years of Dedication and Hard Work
The company’s history of innovation dates all the way back to 1911, when founder Benjamin Gravely designed his first power-driven push plow and, five years later, received a patent for the perfected version. In 1922, he incorporated Gravely Motor Plow and Cultivator Company, and also completed the first Model D on the factory floor.
By 1928, they’d introduced their first mower, a sickle bar model, to their plow lineup. It would take another 20 years for the company to travel overseas, where they opened an assembly line factory in England. The following decades saw even more expansion throughout the United States and England, as well as rapid growth in their product lines: riding tractors, lawnmowers, and other essential landscaping tools continuously offered better features, bigger engines, and more reliable performance.
The first Pro- and Pro-Master lines were introduced in 1982, which continue to be some of their most iconic mowers. In 1997, the entire Gravely operation officially moved to Wisconsin, where their headquarters are held today. In 2016, they celebrated the 100 year anniversary of Benjamin Gravley’s plow patent. Even after all this time, the company knows they wouldn’t be where they are today without their humble beginnings.
